The iris has been described as the monitor through which the neuro-optic reflex demonstrates inherited strengths and weaknesses for the various organs and tissues of the body.
In Chinese medicine there also exists a close connection between the tongue and the internal organs. The heart meridian connects with the root of the tongue, as do the meridians of the spleen and kidney. Five organs and six viscera connect directly or indirectly with the tongue. Hence, pathological changes in the various organs produce changes which manifest on the tongue.
We will explore the possible correlation between signs seen in the iris, and those demonstrated on the tongue which may provide confirmation and valuable insight into a person’s health.
